Very soon it will be time to take down all those lovely Christmas decorations you just put up. If you’re like most of us, it’s easier than it used to be because we decorate a little more simply than we used to. But next year can be easier still with very little effort on your part.

I’m willing to bet you have a lot of stuff in those boxes of decorations that you no longer use. Now is the perfect time to get rid of those items before you pack everything away for another year.

Give them away. Throw them away. Stow them away, if you must. But do separate them out from your regular Christmas decorations. You’ll thank yourself next Christmas!

If it’s difficult for you to get rid of things you don’t use, you may want to pack everything up in a separate box, label it and tape it securely shut. Now, you know you can always dip into the trove if you so desire, but we bet you won’t. If you don’t miss any of the items you’ve stowed away, then dispose of the whole box and be done with it.

There may be sentimental items or ornaments you are saving for your children to have someday. Follow the same procedure, but put them in a separate box easily added to as time goes on.

Next year you can feast your eyes on those Holiday decorations that you truly love without the distractions of those you don’t. And your Holiday decorating time will be, oh, so much shorter.

Sincerely,

Sunday Clean

It is becoming more and more popular these days to clean homes with green products. The reasons for this are as many as they are simple: green cleaning products are renewable, effective, and leave fewer chemicals in your home to be smelled and breathed in. Those who are highly concerned with the air quality in their homes are often the first to go green!

The problem with green cleaning products is that they do tend to be more expensive than their conventional counterparts. While you might be able to get six bottles of Windex for two dollars, the organic glass cleaner always seems to cost twice as much. Can people go green when cleaning their houses and also save money?

Homemade house cleaning supplies on the table.

The answer is yes! Since green cleaning products take their banner from being “natural,” it goes to reason that you can make green cleaning products out of things you find around your house. Many people are surprised to learn how often common household items such as baking soda and vinegar are used to make up those expensive green cleaning products. Why not save hundreds of dollars a year and make your own?

For those who would like to give making their own green cleaning products a try, here are a couple of easy-to-make recipes that you can conjure up in your home. You might be surprised how effective these homebrews can be!

Homemade Floor Cleaner:

  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1 gallon warm water

Mix this up in a bucket and use it to clean vinyl floors. If you prefer a pleasant after scent, try adding a tablespoon of lemon juice or a few drops of any essential oil.

Wood Floor Cleaner:

  • 1 half-cup vinegar
  • 1 gallon water

When using this mixture on wood, remember that the floor should never get overly wet. Dip your mop in and then squeeze out the excess liquid before giving the floor a nearly-dry coat. If any puddles form, wipe them up immediately.

All Purpose Cleaner:

  • 1 half-cup ammonia
  • 1 fourth cup vinegar
  • 1 fourth cup baking soda

Mix all of these ingredients in a spray bottle. If you are cleaning a shower or other heavy-duty area, double the recipe for a stronger batch. Again, if you prefer your cleaning products to be scented, add a few drops of essential oils or a tablespoon of lemon juice.

Sincerely,

Sunday Clean

It’s long been a belief that having a maid in the house means that the people who live there must be rich. In the modern world, however, this is not necessarily the case – and in fact, you might be surprised how many of your friends and neighbors are hiring help to get their houses looking good. After all, we at Sunday Clean understand that just because you’re too busy to dust regularly, it doesn’t mean that you have a lot of money to spend on cleaning! Having a clean home is one of the most important things that you can invest in. Most people understand this, and if you have the time and energy to get the job done yourself, all the better! But the fact of the matter is that if you don’t have the time, most often it’s the housekeeping that falls by the wayside. After all, if you’re trying to juggle the responsibilities of a job with family and other activities, dusting just doesn’t ever seem to top the to-do list. Of course, you’ve got other things that require your time and attention.

Thankfully, that’s where Sunday Clean comes in. We’re a reliable cleaning company that loves to work with clients from all walks of life. You don’t need to have a trust fund to hire a Sunday Clean maid to come into your house and make it look like you have all the time in the world to mop and straighten books. You’ll feel much more relaxed and comfortable in your home when it’s clean and tidy – and Sunday Clean is the ticket that will get you there!

Contact us today at Sunday Clean so that we can discuss pricing options with you. We always love to talk with potential clients so that we can show them how affordable having hired help can be.

So by now we have all heard the verdict on the Casey Anthony trial- What the F? I mean I know we have the follow the law and cannot convict unless proved beyond a reasonable doubt…but come on how about some common sense. Now the jurors are speaking out stating that they do not believe she is innocent, there just was not enough evidence.

Makes me have flashbacks of the O.J. Trial….”If the glove doesn’t fit, we must acquit.”

It was almost a year ago that we lost our beloved Dukey. He was not the easiest dog…he was scared of strangers, barked at everything and shed like crazy all over the house – which lead to me having to vacuum the house EVERY day. Now and again I will still come across a piece of his hair in the house and I’ll stop to remember. I hope he’s looking down on us and stopping to remember how much we loved him.

So the annual Del Mar Fair is here again which means heavier traffic, interesting spectacles & ton of junk food consumption. However, this year it has been stated that the Del Mar Fairgrounds crew is going to attempt to recycle as MUCH  as possible. In previous years, they did not do so well and the county cracked down hard on them. This is fantastic as I cannot imagine the amount of trash that needs to be cleaned up after every day. I would definetley not want to be the company cleaning up that mess.

No thanks you Del Mar Fair, Sunday Clean will not be willing to sign on for that job:)

Sincerely,

Sunday Clean

This morning I awoke to my 2 big tasks of the day – 1) Clean a large home from top to botttom with no help. 2) Kiss my baby boy goodbye as he goes away on his first ever sleep over at Grandpa’s house. So I found myself asking the same question to both of these situations, ” Does it get any easier?”

And I’m afraid the answer is……NO. No matter how many homes I’ve cleaned in the last year. Or how many new improved products I’ve tried…it doesn’t get any easier. And although this is my first time having my little boy away from me for a whole night, I have a strong feeling that this too will not become any easier over the years.

Here’s to all of us who have to concur things today that are not easy! Cheers!

Sincerely,

Sunday Clean

It’s so interesting to watch your toddler from a distance and see how they attempt to figure out their surroundings. How are they going to handle that new person? That new environment? Will they share their toy?

Here’s to a day at the beach, watching Max, watching a Girl.

So I’ve tried to incorporate my 2 year old with my daily cleaning chores around the house – since I have other things to do during his 2 hour nap time ( like write this blog:) The problem is at this age they want to help TOO much. I mean they want to hold the mop by themselves, push the bucket of water, pull the vacuum….you get the idea. Needless to say, this new method does not work. But for all of you mom’s out there with this same problem – here are a few chores that I discovered 2 year olds LOVE to help with and it doesn’t cause a disaster:

-Unloading the dishwasher & putting clothes from washer to dryer.

Oh, and picking up their own toys…that’s about it. But they are so yummy that I’m okay with that.

Sunday Clean

So I recently discovered this product line called Casabella. They make mostly ergonomic and microfiber cleaning tools along with great sponges and unique bathroom accessories. They also have unique and cool kitchen preparation items like baking pans and spatulas. Not only is there design theory and quality outstanding, they all make all of their products from recycled materials. Great to look at it and good for the environment. I use them around my own house and have recently started using them for all of my residential cleaning customers in San Diego. Sunday Clean is a cleaning company that is proud to endorse them.

Check them out at www.casabella.com.
